Just watched the Hancock R5 a few nights ago. Perfect dvd quality in my opinion. I had no desire of any kind to pay to see it. One reason being is cuz I wasn’t sure what kind of movie it was. I can safely say now that it falls under the action comedy genre with superheroic elements and drama sprinkled throughout. It ain’t even an hour and a half and that’s probably cuz it cost so much to make. That money was put to good use cuz the special effects prove even more that Hollywood has come a long way. The only thing now is to get the cost down for these kinds of effects and movie making will enter into a new stage of wonder. With IMAX, 3D, and even 4D being viable possibilities available en masse in less than 5 years, the medium is looking better and better. Depending on the type of movie, you may have to go see it on the big screen to get the full sensory feast. I don’t mind that cuz, right now, too many movies just aren’t worth the dough.

Hancock has a decent smathering of mild cuss words and Charlize Theron’s hairstyle was vastly improved later on in the movie from what was shown in her first appearance. You’ll see. I did catch one mistake though. It was onscreen for, like, 2 seconds during the hospital scene. Pay attention to the blood on her shirt. That’s all I can say right now without giving too much away. Either the script supervisor was asleep or didn’t give a shit, or the editors just said “Fuck it. Nobody will notice. Let’s cut the scene down so they won’t. Yeah, that’ll work.”

Would I recommend Hancock? Can’t say that I would. A coworker asked me that question and I told him no and the reasons why. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t completely bad either. Just not enough bang for the hour and 20 minutes of buck. So much more could’ve been done with, say, 15-25 minutes of extra time. Kids and simpletons (or should I say people that are easy to impress and only see movies for special effects) would enjoy it most cuz the story is pretty easy to follow. No real depth to it except for Hancock’s origin. Some idiots at work kinda ruined the only surprise for me but at the same time, I kinda already knew based on the trailers. I’ll have it up (along with the soundtrack) this Friday and you can peep everything out for yourself.

Just finished watching Appleseed: Ex Machina. Not recommended. The plot is good enough but execution sucked. As always, the good guys won again in way too predictable fashion. Not Woo’s best work. Not much relation to the first part. Doesn’t continue that storyline in any way. This one stands alone. Unless you’re a fanboy/girl, don’t waste your time. The ending is nothing memorable. It has a small twist but not what you expect or what it should’ve been based on everything that built up to it. Plus not enough is explained to wrap it all up properly. It just ends with the same crap dialogue and clichéd voice acting that makes up the rest of the movie. What a waste of time.

Still looking around for an x64 compatible p2p program. Looking at eDonkey, Gnutella 1 & 2, and Ares protocols right now. We’ll see what happens. I’ll keep you posted on what works and what doesn’t.

I’m gonna start posting Zatch Bell again (uncut original japanese language with english subs); either picking up where Cartoon Network left off or just starting with the first ep and doing 2 eps a week. I tried in the past but the .mp4’s wouldn’t convert to .flv directly so I posted the original files using JW’s flash player. At the time, it streamed fine but as the player upgraded, it lost functionality. Adobe’s Flash CS3 doesn’t convert anything but the audio. I gave SUPER another shot just recently (after canning it years ago) and converted them to .mov. They played fine. So I tried to convert to .flv and so far it’s doing it with video intact. If you’re a Zatch fan and have been wanting to continue the series but can’t since there’s not many other outlets, then you’ll wanna be back here in two weeks when I start streaming them if everything turns out fine. Gonna finish up the Rahxephon series with the last 2 eps and I’m posting the movie and soundtrack to wrap things up this Friday.

Looks like Squadron Supreme 8 and 9 never saw the light of day so issue 7 was the last one. So all I’m missing is issues 2 and 3 of Superion v. Nighthawk and the whole Ultimate Power series. I’ll use a $3.99 off coupon to get those 2 issues at the comic shop that issued it. And I’m bidding on Ultimate Power on eBay. Does it make any sense that Marvel came out with the hardcover first over the softcover trade? Haven’t read anything else since Akira. I wanna finish what I started then I’ll move on to House of M. I usually read at work but till then, I’m watching movies on my pmp. Far as the new Squadron Supreme, I think I’ll pass. If it ain’t Straczynski, it just ain’t gonna feel right. I might peep the first issue next year at Megacon if it’s available. See if it’s any good.

I still have unlimited bandwidth with Sprint so I guess they’re leaving those of us who already had it alone. Good, smart move! I just upgraded to the Sierra Wireless Compass 597 cuz the old 595u’s battery kept overheating and bubbling up. And I wasn’t about to pay for another one (my third one). So since the newer one didn’t require a battery (or a cradle), I had to get it since my connection was getting rather shitty and annoying with my old hardware. Got it on eBay on the cheap and it works perfectly fine. Had to activate it online rendering my 595u useless. That’s fine. I’ll sell it eventually. the 597u is plug-and-play and works right out of the box as advertised.

My only probs with it is the Sprint SmartView control panel only minimizes to the taskbar, not the system tray. And you can use it as a flashlight or glow stick if it’s plugged in. Peep the pic. The top part has a bright yellow light to signify that it’s on. I think that’s just for style but it’s completely unnecessary. Then the two blue lights let you know it’s on and that you have a signal. Two ‘on’ indicators? C’mon, no need to be suckin’ up all that juice. Since my computer is in the same area that I sleep in, that light doesn’t help the preferred ambience of darkness unless I’m with a girl and we’re cuddling or about to fuck. Only then is the soft glow welcome.

Got a letter in the mail from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. They’re raising my rates 4 bucks a month. How in the hell? I’m perfectly healthy and haven’t even used any of their services at all since I got their health insurance. I only have it just in case I ever get hurt or need to go to the hospital (where I’ve spent a grand total of less than an hour in my life to date). Why should the healthy folk like me have to pay more? Why’s my rates gotta get raised on par with the unhealthy people’s? I don’t think that’s right. It’s like apartment complexes raising your rent every damn year but you don’t see any change at all in service. It’s bullshit. My rates should be cheaper if anything since they’re making money off me and I don’t use the shit. I’m the ideal motherfucker. That nigger that they’d prefer all their customers to be like. I maintain a healthy lifestyle and this is how I’m rewarded? Fucking bullshit. I hope they use that extra money to fix their website’s bill payment section to be compatible with Firefox cuz right now it ain’t up to speed. Son of a bitches, sons of bitches, whatever.

I hadn’t did a toy run in months cuz there was nothing out there to get excited about. Still isn’t. I did all the places that sell toys except the comic shops and K-Mart. They usually get left out the way Sears gets left out when shopping for electronics. Guess they still haven’t done enough to increase positive brand awareness. Anyway, the only thing I got was the Kratos God of War II action figure. And I haven’t even played any of the video games yet. I’m such a poser. But I’ve always liked the way the character looks and all the trailers I’ve seen. I’ll get the 1st game eventually, no doubt about that. And hopefully I’ll like it. If not, then I’ll still enjoy my toy. Well, enjoy it as in admire it, not the way any of you pervs are thinking when taking into consideration the way I said the last sentence.

I’m pretty much all set with Tristone now. Just waiting for my first direct deposit to go through before I transfer a majority of my money over. Then I’ll have met all the requirements and can keep doing so to qualify for that fat interest rate. Their debit card has their logo on it and looks professional unlike some banks that have god awful ugly cards. You won’t be embarrassed like that guy in the American Express commercials. They’re also upgrading their website and that’s a good thing cuz right now, if you don’t keep track of shit on your own, you’re fucked. I’d like to think they’re making it so that you can easily see if you’ve met all requirements and take the guesswork out of the equation like it is now.
