Personally, she didn’t really do much that affected me directly. I live in the city and the drainage system does its job. There was no flooding except for a few yards of sidewalk. That’s about it. Nothing picture-worthy. I had to work during her extended Florida vacay and that sucked. It was wet and rainy and the temperature dropped considerably. I work outside and prefer hot rain. Walking in from the cold rain into an even colder air-conditioned room back out into the rain after a little while wasn’t all that pleasant on those occasions that it happened. Alternating between soft and hard rain wasn’t either. It’d be sprinkling one moment and you think it’s okay to walk in it, then the hard rain comes when you’re midway to your destination. Or you’d just get home from grocery shopping and park your car in the light rain and the second you turn the car off it comes pouring down to the point that you can’t even open your door without getting soaked. Yep, that happened to me. Trapped in my fucking car and my front door was 10 seconds away.

But I had my pmp, camera, groceries, and collectibles in the trunk. If I would’ve risked it, all my shit would’ve been ruined. Lucky for me my pmp plays movies. So I did that for a bit and listened to it through my car speakers. Wasn’t a completely bad experience. Fay made me look like an idiot though cuz later, I lowered my back seats to grab my shit out the trunk when it was still raining hard. Soon as I got all my shit and was gonna make a run, the rain softened up. Did all that shit for nothing. Fuck you, Fay. Had my ass all up in the air and people watching too. It was at that point that I gave her a different name for embarrassing me: a hoe-icane.

I discovered a leak in my car that left the passenger’s side floor soaked cuz of all the rain, but I got that fixed on the cheap at an auto shop. Also had a small ceiling leak one night (right over my bed and believe me, that was a horrible night of sleep) and some front door leakage cuz the rain was angled directly into it, but that wasn’t a big deal or unique to me. Stores and other places I went to all had leaks of some sort. I bought some DampRid to get rid of the ickyness in my pad. It just felt so wet even though it was bone dry. It was just too much water coming down for too long, not necessarily all at once. Typical afternoon thunderstorms here are, like, 3 times more powerful than Fay. But those come, dump so much rain you can’t even see the car in front of you, have strong wind gusts sometimes, and then they’re gone in less than an hour. That’s a lot of rain all at once with some downtime. Fay didn’t provide downtime. There was no structural damage to anything that I saw. The hurricanes from a few years ago took care of any shoddy construction and old trees. Fay just brought the rain. Not much more. But for a lot of us here, it was business as usual. Just another stormy Florida day.

I’m sure you’ve seen all the shit on the news about the flooding she caused. That shit only happened to people in rural areas or to idiots who moved into areas with shitty drainage and didn’t do their homework before they signed the loan papers and moved in. I got no sympathy for them. You know where you live, you know what’s gonna happen when certain weather events go down. Shouldn’t be a surprise. What is a surprise is that people died during this shit. How the fuck? It’s just fucking rain! And then there’s the stupid pieces of shit who drove through flooded streets and are surprised that their vehicle stalled out on ‘em. Even worse is the people who were told to leave and didn’t. All of that bullshit associated with this was preventable. Motherfucker wants to drive through waist-deep water in a Geo Metro? Go ahead, dumb bitch. I ain’t savin’ your dumb ass. Now other people and resources gotta get used up to save these stupid motherfuckers and their property. Fuck that. Leave ‘em!

And the stay-behinders? City workers on tv gettin’ on their asses for not leaving and shit. Now manpower and taxpayer dollars that could be used elsewhere gotta be wasted rescuing your stupid asses. I say leave ‘em. The excuse is that they have no place else to go. They can’t afford anyplace else to go to. They have no means to leave cuz they got no car. Poor ass motherfuckers! Loser ass grown ass motherfucking people deserve to stay with your worthless ass homes. Unbelievable that people like that are so material. Value their possessions more than their lives. Fucking stupid. Your shit is ruined! Your house or trailer is ruined! Or they’re gonna be cuz you know what’s coming. It’s happened before and you still haven’t come up with a backup plan? You still haven’t moved? Fuck those people! I wholeheartedly believe there are certain places humans aren’t meant to live. Flood-prone places are an example. You know what’s gonna happen when shit goes down and you blame the government? Motherfucker, blame your damn self! People are so fucking stupid.

Human stupidity truly has no bounds. And I’m not heartless. Let’s say I was in a similar situation. Let’s say my brain capacity was far less than what it is. Let’s say I was older. “I have a house I can barely afford. A car that I can’t either. My job don’t pay shit. I’m fucking poor. I bought the house in this particular area cuz I needed a place to stay and it was cheap. I never bothered to do my research on the area or the mortgage terms so I’m stuck with it. I’m old, it’s all I have, and I’m broke so I’m not leaving.” That’s the attitude of a lot of those people. Losers in life who have given up and don’t know any other way. Their lives are worthless and they know it. No one cares about them so they put their value in their possessions. Is your life truly that meaningless? Is it really? Then just die right now. Join those other people who somehow managed to let a little rain and wind do them in…in fucking Florida of all places where weather is worse than Fay damn near every single day in the summertime.

Sorry folks, that’s how I feel about it. Three simple words to live by: do your fucking homework. Okay, four simple words. Plenty of resources and opportunity exists. You just gotta want it and take it. If you give up, then you deserve everything that happens to you. You create your own destiny. Knowledge is the most powerful thing in the universe. If you want it, it’s there. It’s always there. I can’t even say those people were ignorant cuz I saw the interviews on tv and they admit they knew exactly what was gonna happen and they still chose to stay. Would rather be with their belongings than away. I understand the looting aspect. But who the hell wants a tv that’s playing a permanent loop of Waterworld?

I think the government should’ve been a little more stern and forced those people out. Everyone. Treat that shit like a plague is coming. Or the living dead. Get ‘em all out and put ‘em up in some place of shelter. Those that can leave on their own, make ‘em leave. Get your valuables and go. Those that can’t, round ‘em up, make sure they have their irreplaceables, and jet. Only emergency personnel stays behind. Nobody predicted Fay would stick around so long but that’s the unpredictability of weather. You have to factor that in. It’s those ‘what ifs’ that cause innovation and invention that saves and enhances lives.

Look at those images on tv. Water all the way up to mailboxes and shit. 2 feet of water inside homes. Entire neighborhoods flooded. And you know what? They should leave that shit as is. Abandon it. Get on your boat and get your shit out like that, but leave it. It’s a perfect example of what I was saying before. People shouldn’t inhabit those areas cuz it’s just gonna happen again and again and again. And it has happened again and again and again. Even if the water subsides, leave it. Give people the help they need to relocate but let the Earth have its land back.

Any lessons learned from Fay? Probably not. People are gonna be stupid and move back into their homes like the fucking ‘tards that they are. If it was me, I’d just get what I can’t replace and start over someplace else that was better prepared for things like this. I know it’s hard for some people but that’s what has to be done in situations like this. Education is the first starting point. People need to know at an early age about doing their homework. Shit like this needs to be taught in schools. Budgeting, personal finance, home and car buying, loans, credit, all that shit needs to be taught in school. The next generation shouldn’t have to pay for our mistakes and stupidity. We can start right now. It can happen. The prob is getting people to make it wanna happen. Somebody’s gotta do it but nobody wants to. That’s part of it. Give people incentive to learn.

I know it boils down to money and resources but this can be overcome. The current economy isn’t a bad thing. Stupidity and greed created it. It takes disaster for people to learn but, as humans do, we always revert back to our idiotic ways. Why not be proactive and take the initiative? Don’t wait for shit to happen to you. See it coming and have a plan ready to go. Draw that hard line and don’t bend. Make it fucking happen no matter how unpopular a decision may be? We have to do what’s better for the masses rather than the few. Unfortunately the few happens to be the motherfuckers with the money. They dictate shit. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We all have a voice and it can be heard. You just gotta make it be heard in a positive manner that people will give a shit about. Fuck protesting. That shit is pointless and solves nothing. Make the right motherfuckers wanna hear you rather than force-feeding them bullshit like we have to put up with on the news. Anyone found Caylee Anthony yet? Didn’t think so. What about the other missing kids in the world, huh?

Fay came and did her thing. Even dumped some good, heavy rain today and that’s fine. Without rain, none of us would be here. I welcome it. At the same time, it’s a force of nature and can be destructive. Preventing loss of life should be a priority over property damage (yet goes hand in hand with it) but people don’t think like that. Multitudes of property damage exists now cuz of Fay and other natural disasters. And it won’t stop with her. It’ll keep happening over and over and over again. Not cuz of anything humans are doing to affect climate and shit but cuz that’s what the Earth does. It’s all natural. These things are gonna happen whether we’re here or not. Just so happens that humans are almost everywhere now and that’s the only reason major weather events and disasters are such a big deal. Cuz we die when they happen. Think the birds are complaining? The lions? The dolphins? Fuck no. They know where to go and not to go. We don’t.

So don’t feel sorry for Fay victims. Not all of them anyway. Some tragedies deserve some sympathy while others (which is most of them in this case) display human stupidity at its height and deserve some laughter and heckling. Homes flooded? Cars waterlogged and deserted? People stranded? All of that is avoidable. Those are things that are completely preventable. So what has anyone truly learned from Fay’s destruction? Jack shit, that’s what. She ain’t the first storm to come along and piss on us Austin Powers style, she won’t be the last.
